12 Great Horror Art Galleries on DeviantArt

There are many horror art series on the web that are untapped as of yet. Many venues carry horror art galleries, and DeviantArt is one of the leaders in this regard.

This is the first list of DeviantArt horror art galleries I made, and it was about time I did it.

Besides, I was kind of a scrub on DeviantArt, since I never really dove deep into it.

It took me a long time to finally create a first list of this kind because until recently, I didn’t break out on DeviantArt.

This means that I haven’t seen enough horror art by the community. It took me a considerable period to visit a lot of profiles and galleries and identify enough deviant artists that had the types of horror art galleries I wanted to include in this list.

Recently, I visited a couple of hundred profiles (I started watching more than 100 deviants from those) to gather these twelve horror art creators.

Here’s hoping that you’ll enjoy them as much as I do.

Oddly-Spliced

Turbulence by Oddly-Spliced

Oddly-Splice uses Photoshop, a Wacom tablet, and oil paints.

I’m not an art critic, but I think the items in this horror art gallery are very sellable.

Horror art themes don’t have to be something extreme, verging on the atrocious, for them to be both cool and horrifying.

Horror feelings can and will rise when watching pieces such as Tongue or Hallucinogenic, and these are very bright and neat surrealist works.

This artist knows how to mess with your head. Over 3.5K followers are hooked on their noir nightmare fuel—pieces like Decoys and The Ambiguity of Freedom rack up serious view counts because they nail that sweet spot between beautiful and disturbing. If you dig surreal horror art that sticks with you, check them out.

Horror Movie Poster Retro Vintage Style by studioskrint

German hobbyist doing what we need more of: proper retro horror art poster work. Their Sci-fi Movie Poster Retro Vintage 1980s Style captures that B-movie magic we’re all nostalgic for. Two years in, and they’re already nailing the throwback aesthetic with bold type and that vintage sci-fi/horror art vibe that just works.

Reading the About section of studioskrint’s profile, I learned that the technique of generating horror art through artificial intelligence is called synthography.

I’m no newbie to this topic (been generating visuals for my projects with AI since early 2022). Like many other horror art pieces on DeviantArt, the pieces on studioskrint’s gallery all follow a certain style that I wonder: how should you set up an art generator to always do them with the same style?

Whatever method Studioskrint uses, the horror movie posters of movies that never existed in this gallery look gorgeous.

Dr-Horrible

Gnarl Sketch Card by Dr-Horrible

Dr. Horrible’s Buffy / Whedonverse gallery is his most horror art-oriented gallery.

Entrancing colored pencils and professional marker illustrations.

I linked the Buffy gallery for its horror art imagery, but be sure to check Dr Horrible’s The Walking Dead and Vampirella galleries too.

Sketch card machine with 400+ pieces and the range to prove it—Joey Ramone to Walking Dead, Lemmy to Kylo Ren. Nearly 1.2K watchers can’t be wrong about this one.

Whether it’s India ink or fan art, they deliver consistent quality across genres and keep the horror art community fed with solid work.

Ghost-Shrimp

Lil’ Pumpkin Girl by Ghost-Shrimp

Cartoonish but macabre horror art imagery with naif/pop-surrealism styles, with, I guess, some influence of Mark Ryden?

A long-time DeviantArt member from the U.S. (18 years active), Ghost-Shrimp specializes in whimsical yet eerie illustrations featuring small creatures and macabre themes.

Their gallery includes horror art pieces like Lil’ Miss Skellybones and The Birthday Boogie Bug, blending dark humor with playful horror elements.

I’m a bitch for horror pop surrealism, and Ghost-Shrimp’s gallery has that in spades.

If Ghost-Shrimp sold paintings I’d buy one of hers over any piece by Ryden any day. Even if at that point in a hypothetical future, Ghost-Shrimp had earned seniority in the pop surrealism scene and a piece by her commanded the same price as a Ryden.

DelicSaike

Untitled by DelicSaike

Based in Japan with over a decade on DeviantArt, DelicSaike focuses on dark, surreal, and horror-inspired imagery, mostly untitled works expressing a haunting aesthetic.

DelicSike pieces, often shared anonymously or via commissions, evoke unsettling atmospheres reminiscent of classic Japanese horror art.

With significant exposure (~311K views on Untitled), DelicSaike’s creations earned global recognition within dark-surreal horror art circles.

I think that DelicSaike’s works are a bit reminiscent of both Francis Bacon and Giger. At least I thought those were two of the influences.

DelicSaike’s gallery is, like darkroots77’s an aptly curated horror art series with a consistent style and packing serious shock value.

There are some very wickedly repulsive vistas here.

Korpoz

Crawler by Korpoz

Korpoz’s horror art honors his name since the art he creates is the most dominant in body horror on this list.

Be warned, the gnarly body horrors that await you in this gallery will seriously turn your stomach.

Be sure not to watch it while eating or soon after, as the gross-out factor is heightened in these scenes.

Korpoz’s DeviantArt gallery features highly detailed horror art subjects, such as Michael Myers, Sanguis-Boomer, and XENO-Sanguis CAESAR, each attracting thousands of favorites.

Reddit users on r/Scary compare Korpoz’s style to infamous creepypasta aesthetics, noting “long black hair, a smile carved in the faces, no eyelids, no nose”—undoubtedly chilling.

The flair for visceral, character-driven horror art has earned Korpoz a reputation in the fan-art horror community.

Taryn: A Nightmare On Elm Street 3 Dream Warriors by philrayart

Of great interest to me and, I hope, to other fans of horror and exploitation cinema, Philrayart has us covered.

This artist’s reimaginings of horror movie posters are simply amazing.

I suppose that we, in general, are a) accustomed to the glossy texture of movie posters and b) have a preconceived idea of what the movie posters of our favorite movies look like.

But when we see the posters of the movies we love given a new twist and, most importantly, colored with pastel colors, the aesthetic pleasure is markedly heightened.

Phil Ray operates an Etsy store supplying original horror art and fantasy-themed poster prints, having sold over 1,500 items since 2019.

On DeviantArt, Phil’s work leans into giallo/horror movie poster styles, with pieces like The Strange Vices Of Mrs Wardh and The Case Of The Bloody Iris (1972) showcasing vintage suspense aesthetics.

AmbergrisElement

Time To Die by AmbergrisElement

Very dark and creepy horror art illustrations with muted colors.

I think AmbergrisElement is the most stylish horror artist on this list, but that is just my point of view and tastes.

Very consistent in style, and very pleasurable horror art to look at.

Hailing from Kiel, Germany (b. 1988), AmbergrisElement cites the foggy Baltic region as the emotional anchor for ghost-story-inspired art.

Strong works such as Herbert West: Re-Animator, Otherness, and Garden Pond II highlight their talent in moody, traditional illustrations executed in pencil or ink.

With 1.4K watchers and 75K+ views, they’ve carved out a niche in atmospheric, narrative-driven visual horror art.

Kevercaser

Terrifier Art The Clown by Kevercaser

Awesome horror art portraits. Kevercaser does justice to many horror figures using colored pencils or black pencils on black paper.

The level of craftsmanship of this horror artist is a sight to behold.

Difficult to believe someone can achieve such a grade of photorealism with such simple materials.

Kevercaser specializes in realistic colored-pencil and graphite illustrations on black paper, spotlighting iconic horror characters like Pennywise, Freddy Krueger, and Valak.

The pieces’ craftsmanship, praised for its vivid detail and textured shadows, gives familiar figures a striking, haunting presence.

Freaks and Fools Series II, No.26: Separate Ways by darkroots77

You should check the Freaks and Fools Series and Freak and Fools Series II by darkroots77. The imagery in these horror art series is pure nightmare fuel.

Besides darkroots77 horror art’s considerable shock value, the pieces in darkroots77 collection, made with ink and markers on board, have a different feel that makes them way above average in coolness.

It’s hard to pinpoint, it may be the materials or the shading techniques, I don’t know.

Whatever it is, this is the kind of horror art that inspires me to create listicles like this one.

A professional traditional artist based in the U.S., darkroots77 works with ink and other classic media, showcasing a deliberate, hand-crafted approach to creature and character art.

Their FandFIV #26 – Salesman with Disturbed Clown Species piece earned notable attention on both DeviantArt and social platforms in early 2025.

601: Bad Man From Bodie, Gunfight by JakubJagoda

Polish digital artist Jakub Jagoda uses Procreate and Photoshop to craft moody narratives drawn from mythology, folklore, and fairy tales, often with a dark twist.

With over 3K watchers and 170+ deviations, his horror art prominently features mythic creatures and dystopian reimaginings.

His atmospheric style leans heavily on digital brushwork to create dense, story-rich compositions.

Not all items in Jakub’s gallery are horror art, but those that are are kind of unsettling.

Like a group of hooded figures beheading a man, narcoterrorist style.

It’s a big gallery, but be warned, not everything in it is horror art.

Christopher-Manuel

The Company of Wolves by Christopher-Manuel

It’s a film-industry-inspired collection of sketch cards, but most of them are horror art and very well done.

I think that in this list, Christopher-Manuel is the horror artist who outdoes all the others on the list who do horror portraits, both in quality and quantity.

Christopher-Manuel is a prolific horror art illustrator with nearly 1K deviations and 535 watchers, best known for drawing hundreds of sketch-cards depicting classic monsters and cult figures like Frankenstein, Nosferatu, and cryptids.

His disciplined Sketch Cards 365 project highlights both variety and consistency, with standout entries such as 306 Angel Eyes and Mina Murray earning strong viewer engagement.

Through his gallery, he blends traditional illustration and genre nostalgia, creating collectible horror art pieces favored by horror fans.

Closing Words

This is just the beginning. More horror art lists are coming—I’m always hunting for artists who get it, who understand what this genre demands.

These twelve creators know something most don’t: real horror art has teeth. It doesn’t sit pretty in galleries begging for approval. It claws its way out, leaves marks, makes people uncomfortable. Every piece here carries that electric current of someone brave enough to dig into the dark and drag something beautiful back with them.

Horror art isn’t just monsters in the closet—it’s the guts to open that closet door and show everyone what’s inside.

Drop names in the comments. Which DeviantArt horror artists should I be tracking down for the next round? Help me build this thing.
